<p>I’ve asked this on another thread-but am hoping someone familiar with the process can answer. I applied ED-and my GC said that my 1st Q grades would be very important 'cuz of upward trend in grades (to show it is not a fluke). I worked like a dog in all AP and honors-got a great 1st Q. Found out Fri. that my app. was already being reviewed (had to call 'cuz one rec.-an extra one which is not terribly important-was missing and they said my app. was already being reviewed so they couldn’t check for the missing rec.) I freaked out 'cuz my GC had just sent in my 1st Q grades the day before-snail mail!! They probably haven’t even arrived yet.</p>
<p>He did call straight to the Head of Admissions and spoke with them—told me he was faxing the grades. So…will they consider them even if my app. was already read?</p>
<p>They are so important for me-and I worked so hard for them-and I think they will make all the difference. I feel so let down by my GC. I asked him over a week ago about getting my grades to them-he said he would MAIL??? them. Because of ED I asked if they could get them there right away. But-all he did was mail them a few days later!!!</p>
<p>I don’t know what college you are talking about, so I hate to make a blanket statement except for the small liberal arts colleges I’m familiar with.</p>
<p>Given that your guidance counselor called and spoke to the head of admissions, I think you should be confident that, if you first quarter grades will make any difference, they will be factored into the decision. However, those grades are only going to make a difference if you were in the “coin-flip” territory. </p>
<p>You should thank your GC, IMO. Phoning the head of admissions on your behalf was above and beyond the call of duty at most high schools.</p>
<p>I think when they said that your application was “Being Reviewed” that it was just a general statement as the admissions process as a whole is not completed and they will not tell anyone yeah or nay over the phone. </p>
<p>The fact that the guidance counselor has sent your most recent grades does give them more information in which to evaluate you and as ID stated could be a key factor in moving you from one pile to another</p>
<p>When I was applying to Harvard last year, someone who had been through the process told me that if they are interested in you they will themselves call and ask for your first quarter grades after they are done reading your app…just a thought.</p>
