For the last two weeks I have had a lot of interviews. Does anyone know how the interviewers record their responses about applicants? Do they write an essay or check boxes like a common app rec form?

I think there’s definitely room for comments to write for most colleges, but there could be a ratings system also (maybe with different categories or just 1 rating).

I’m pretty sure it varies from college to college, and that both options you mentioned, or a combination thereof, are used by many colleges.

Some have a rubric kind of thing that they check off or fill out or whatever. Some may just write a general recommendation or summary of the interview. Some may just say “good/bad”

Depends on the college/university.

I’m sure it varies from school to school, but I’m an interviewer for Carnegie Mellon and I have a 2-page form to fill out and submit. It includes all of the applicant’s contact info, and then spaces for me to summarize my impressions of the student relating to various questions, such as how enthusiastic they were, what their communication skills were like, why they are interested in CMU, how they spend their non-academic time, whether I would recommend them for admittance, etc. I then rate my overall impression of the applicant.
