How expensive is it REALLY to study abroad through UT?

I’m going to UT next year as a first year student in Psychology. Because I’ll have almost all of my basic requirements out of the way, 45 or so applicable hours (I’ve talked with advisors and everything), I will be able to graduate in three years taking like 12 hours a semester. Because of this, I’ll save some serious money, and I’ll have a lot of free time to do things like study abroad.

I’d like to be able to study abroad at some point in college.
My first choice would be England, but I would also like Australia. (I speak a little Spanish, but there’s no way I could live in a Spanish-speaking country.)

How much more expensive would it be for me to study abroad in England?

*disclaimer: UT now covers my tuition in grant money and scholarships

Will I still be able to get financial aid if I study abroad?
Are there scholarships for this sort of thing, particularly in psychology?

bumping this

There are plenty of merit-based study abroad scholarships in various amounts available through the university ([Global Assist](<a href=“Redirecting to Global Assist”>Redirecting to Global Assist) - hopefully you’re able to see that page without being enrolled). I can’t think of any for psychology specifically, but then I’m not a psych major. Also, if you’re in an honors program, they’ll more than likely be willing to shell out some money for you to go abroad (mine gives $2000 for summer programs and $5000 for fall/spring programs).

Still, it can be expensive. I’m not sure how people are able to study abroad for a whole year, though I’m sure the experience would be invaluable.
