<p>Are we speaking hypothetically? Also, there’s a pretty big difference between a 3.0 and a 3.3.</p>
<p>In general, this differential often indicates a student who is very bright, but has not performed up to potential in HS. There are in fact colleges that are willing to take a chance on such students. You will have to do some research to find them.</p>
<p>FWIW I’m not sure that your list is a list of peers. For example, Tufts is much harder to get into than U-Mass Amherst (though both are good schools).</p>
<p>If you are an excellent athlete with a perfect score, even with those grades it can be very valuable – saw someone get into HYP like that…the team needed the high SAT score to balance a lower teammate’s score.</p>

<p>Pretty far, actually. As long as the rest of your application isn’t complete ****, you would have an good shot at all of the places you listed. And, by the way, all of those schools are considered Tier 1 schools.</p>

<p>well i have been studying a lot lately and received a perfect on the 2nd to last test in the blue book. one more test to go then i move on to mcghill and princeton review tests.</p>
<p>I seriously need to get into my top choices - umiami/tulane/tufts/pennstate.</p>
<p>btw do you think if i hand in my LoRs from my teacher a bit late (past the EA deadline for umiami and tulane november 1st) and send them in november 15th-ish, they will still take it?</p>
<p>Not much difference between a perfect score and a high school (2300+).</p>
<p>You do realize that a lot of the very top schools reject at least half of their applicants with perfect scores, while still accepting lots and lots of applicants with less than perfect scores? the ones rejected most likely had gpas which did not correlate with the perfect score, which indicates a student not working up to potential…ie., lazy.</p>
<p>For the schools you are looking at, the scores may be enticing…it will likely depend on the trend of your grades. If your most recent semesters have been solid, and your gpa is relatively low because of low grades in 9th grade, your gpa may not be as damaging.</p>
<p>A perfect score will help a lot, but as others have said, for adcoms, high SAT + low GPA = lazy student
