how far can my sat score take me?

i have a 730 critical reading, 650 math, 620 writing (1380/2000)… i really don’t want to take the SAT a second time. i hate tests in general and i really hate the SAT…

if i don’t retake what schools can i get in with those scores? i’m not a URM… i’m asian…

Your score would probably be considered at least average in most elite schools except places like Harvard/MIT/Yale/etc. So if you have everything else in order you could have good chances.

i don’t know about the score being average. but if you have good stats otherwise, i’d say you have good chance of getting into a decent school.

what I would do as a complete safe-freak, is take the SAT’s again and get 700’s in all sections.

I think you’re pretty competitive for schools like UCSD, UCIrvine and some other public ivies just from your SATs. Depending on where you live and where you want to get into. I didn’t make 600’s at all in my SATs (though I got 98th percentile with ACT: 31) and i got into UCSD. Also SATs aren’t everything. One can’t really tell how far you can go without knowing your GPA, class rank, essays, and extracurriculars. I had over 500 hours of volunteer work and almost a 3.9 high school GPA (I was within top 5% of my class) and that definitely helped.

I don’t think SAT I score has a big impact on admissions. My score was pretty high (2130) and everything else was decent, but I didn’t get into UCSD. But many of my friends who couldn’t break 2000 got in. Another friend who barely broke 2000 got into UCLA. Admissions considers everything so don’t depend solely on SATs
