On my schedule I have red inbetween cmsc131 and math140, I know where the CSI building is but I don’t know where the ARM is and its next to the section ID. I finish 131 at 12:50 and have 140 at 1, someone told me its possbile but I should just walk pretty fast.

According to TerpNav, 665.0 yards (or 0.378 miles)

https://terpnav.umd.edu/

I’m a slow walker so it would take me close to 10 minutes to walk it. Both classes will be huge so you shouldn’t have problems finding a seat. However, one thing to keep in mind is if you potentially have tests/quizzes in both on the same day, you might wish you could have stayed an extra few minutes at one or gotten to the other a few minutes earlier.

It’s gonna be very tight but possible if cmsc lets out on time (doesn’t run late)…is that the only section available? The armory is across route one and the prob is going to be crossing the highway with traffic flow at lunch hour…so, if there is another section, I personally would recommend opting for a different one.

You can use https://terpnav.umd.edu/ on your computer (doesn’t work same on mobile since it makes you sign in on mobile phone but doesn’t on computer). You can also access terpnav directly from testudo.umd.edu - when looking at the sections, you will see building code in red. If you click on it, a pop-up appears with a photo of the building and gives you the option to view in google maps or terpnav. Use terpnav for ease since it allows you to use school building codes where google maps does not recognize codes. In terpnav, click on the “route” tab and it will allow you to plug in the building codes for starting and end destination and then click “find route” - it will show you exactly what I mean. It says the distance is 665 yards (you can also change the distance units if you prefer).

FYI, for a mobile map, there are several free apps including UMD Mobile and Campus Maps. They don’t lay out the route like terpnav does but it might be helpful to have them on your phone just to locate a single building on a map and you can navigate how to get there yourself. The other nice feature of UMD Mobile is that it does have an events calendar (obviously empty now but you can scroll back to previous months so see how it lists events on any given day (choose all to see events in every category) - if there is something you want details of you tap it and it gives you start/end times, description and location. It’s not nearly as complete as freestuff.umd.edu but it’s something (better than nothing) on the go …

My kid is in the same boat, but going the opposite direction (Math lecture to CMSC discussion). TerpNav, as others have said, seems pretty great. My son and I actually walked the route a few weeks ago. Unless the map is wrong, the Armory doesn’t look like it’s across Route 1 from the map. It took about six minutes walking fast to basically get from entrance to entrance so it would be relatively tight.

@lenmonster…oops my bad! Your are correct that it is not across route one from csi building…was thinking of when I was a student and came from Leonardtown I had to cross route one then…

Okay tweeked my schedule around so now I don’t have red inbetween one lecture to another lecture, now its just red from a lecture to a discussion period lol. My next question is when will it let me pay for the classes? It says it should show up a day after but it says no data found.

and thanks for the advice and terpnav, thats really cool!

It takes a while for the student account info to propagate. I recall it taking until a week before classes started for me, but that might have been because I was a transfer student (didn’t even have orientation until late June). Just keep checking it regularly and it will eventually show up.

Okay cool thats a relief, thanks a bunch
