How far will a 4.0 get me?

I’m a freshman at the honors program at the university of georgia who is considering transferring to several top schools. I have a 4.0 from this semester taking calculus honors, french 4 honors, geology honors, and economics. what are my chances at upenn, dartmouth, uva, duke, and, just for the fun of it, yale. (BTW, what would I have to do to show a school on the caliber of yale that I could handle the workload to make up for my low 1400ish SATs)

College ECs:
Student Government Association (Academic Affairs Committee)
Freshman Forum (a freshman leadership organization that worked extensivly doing hurricane katrina relief stuff)
This next semester, I’m going to focus hopefully on volunteer work (homeless shelter, mentoring, etc.)

College Awards:
Presidential Scholar (for 4.0)

High School Stats:
Homeschooled
SAT: 710 M, 700 V
SAT IIs: 800 US, 800 W, 660 M1, 690 French, 740 Chemistry
HS GPA: (not applicable, homeschooled, entirely non-accredited, UW, 3.89)
ECs: strong emphasis in debate and public speaking, national competitor, several clubs, organizations, and leadership opportunities throughout high school in many other areas as well
Legacy: both parents are Emory alum
Residence: Georgia
R/G: White male

you could do emory, for sure…decent shots at the others besides duke and yale where you don’t have much of a chance…i would wait another year and then go for it if you want to see all your options since you were homeschooled they may want to see your ability to keep up the work and then you could be a legit candidate for any school

the only reason duke and yale would be tough is because of the fact that they only accept between 5-50 transfer students a year. that isnt to say that you arent qualified because you certainly are. i totally commend you for that and somewhat envy. your high school stats alone could have gotten you to a top school and with a 4.0 in college for 1 to 2 years, you have a lot of options. just dont get your hopes to high with schools like harvard, yale, duke, etc. because of the low acceptances of transfer students. for places like upenn and uva, id say you’d have an excellent shot.

congratulations on what you have achieved so far, and good luck in the future with everything…
