How fast can you study?

Well, I am in my first year of medicine and while I was studying for my embryology exam, I was wondering how fast am I compared to others in absorbing the information from the book. Of course many things can affect how fast one can understand a topic, like being familiar with it, or studying it a long time ago, or even having it written in a non-native language. But ignoring all that, I can read and absorb 3 pages of embryology in about an hour and a half.(Daydreaming included)/Two if it’s just new information.
How fast are you?

it takes me two hours to fully understand an entire cal chapter, and that doesn’t include procrastination. Then again speed doesn’t really matter as long as you retain the information in permanent memory not just temp.

Yeah this is a weird question and an odd way to think about this, at least to me. How do you know what you absorbed? Will you remember in a week? month? year? Who cares about speed? Focus on trying to really retain the information and put it to good memory. Just a thought

If it’s for a multiple choice test with some essay responses, it takes about an hour or two to make some notecards, as I memorize them by writing them down. I guess in that way I’m a bit of a kinesthetic learner.
However, I don’t feel like any of my studying and memorizing facts and essay responses for a test for a class that I’m not really interested in will really stick with me in the long run. I’ll remember the answers for a test by writing them down on notecards, but the information will really only stick with me if I find the topic and class of real personal interest and value.

Is it only me that understands stuff in a chapter of Calc 2 in 20 minutes XD
Anyway…I think I have a very good memorization and understanding skill.

@paul2752 You’re lucky to be so good at math. I suck at it! English and humanities subjects are my academic strong points.

“Want to see me study this textbook? Want to see me do it again?”
