To being in a new city and having to learn new roads, highways, surroundings, people, ect. when you started college?

Pretty fast. The new roads were the most annoying, but I go to school in a small enough city that everything important is on one of two streets.

What surroundings?

Very quickly. It helps that you will probably be walking most places. It’s very difficult to get too badly lost if you’re walking, especially if you have a map, because it’s harder to do something like miss a turn and easier to sit and think about where you’re going.

Now, I’m still not sure I could drive from my home to my school without getting lost, but I don’t have a car and I’ve never actually made the drive. My roomie learned it very quickly, though (she gives me rides home on weekends).

I’d say it will take you no longer than a semester to get adjusted. For some people there will be culture shock depending on where they enroll, especially if they lived in a different part of the country/world.

Pretty quickly, about a week or two.

I’ll be going from CT to FL, so it’ll be pretty different…
