How generous are the curves on the SAT IIs?

I’m a junior and i’m taking the US History, French, and Lit SAT IIs in May. How generous are the curves on all three of the exams? Also, is it a bad idea to be taking them all on the same day? They’re on May 2, and I have my three AP exams that same week (i’m taking AP US II, French III, and English III)… advice? THANKS.

Junior year, I also wanted to take SAT II in May (along with APs). After signing up, I ended up paying to change it to June. To me, it was a huge burden lifted, and it gave me a lot of extra time. It was definitely a good decision for me. Sure, it’s the same subject, but the added stress plus the different style of studying for AP vs. SAT II makes it harder. And for me, it was only one test (physics), not three, since I had already taken US hist and math. The curve for US is really nice, about 82/90 for an 800 (according to sparknotes, which I believe is pretty accurate). I can’t say much about Lit or French though. If you’re looking for a prep book, I’d definitely recommend AMSCO for US hist. Good luck! :)

Thanks so much! That was super helpful, I was actually about to order some SAT II prep book lol =)

I’m also preparing for USH and extremely in two minds in choosing prep books. So, wewet234, which specific book (I mean full name) u mentioned by AMSCO? Thks!

I think wewet234 means Amsco’s AP USH book.

You have other SAT Subject Tests already, cause you don’t really need 3 humanities SAT IIs.

Yeah, I’m talking about the AP book. Still works great for the subject test.

What other books are you considering?

Thank u guys. I’m gonna find that book (but it seems it’s not available in my country :frowning: Perhaps I have to order it online)

What 'bout “A People History of the United States”? Has anyone heard of it? Is it good?

A People’s History of the United States isn’t even a prep book. It’s a good book I heard, but definitely stick to a prep book like Amsco’s APUSH.

shayz328: I don’t think you should take 3 humanities SAT IIs. You should consider dropping one of them and take on math or a science (unless you’ve already taken math and science). Language SAT IIs have the hardest curves because native speakers throw off the curve, so you may want to consider dropping French, unless you’re really good at it.

According to the info on the College Board website, the two subject tests with the most generous curves are Math II and Physics. So my S has taken Math II, and will take Physics and US History in June.

hey immortalix, thanks so much for the advice
i really should take a math or a science, except i’m not very good at physics, and i don’t remember anything from chem/bio… what have you heard about math I?

thanks so much for your help
