How generous is FA for a low income family?

I was wondering how generous FA is for a family with income around 40k. Would a OOS student potentially get a full ride?

I’d like to know this too please :-)

Being OOS or in-state does not matter, NYU is a private school.

How generous NYU is with aid largely depends on how strong of an applicant you are – if you’re a very strong applicant, NYU may provide full to almost full-ride. If you’re an average applicant, NYU may give you absolutely nothing.

what If i have like a 3.8 GPA and a 2100 on the SATs? Is that considered a strong applicant

NYU2013 is absolutely right. I’ve seen some of the best aid packages come from NYU and some of the worst gaps. It depends on how much they want you. The gapping is particularly blatant because NYU is need blind in admissions, but does not guarantee to meet need, and very expensive, to boot.

You would need a lot more than that. Basically, those I’ve seen get great packages are competing with the very top schools’ admissions offers. Schools such as HPY.

Depends on which school you’re applying to, your ECs, potential hooks, etc.

No one would be able to tell you how much FA you would receive - you would have to apply and find out. NYU may be very generous, or you may get nothing at all.

A 3.8 GPA and a 2,100 SAT makes you a good candidate for NYU. NYU does reject people with stats that high, so you’re certainly not guaranteed a spot, but you have a strong application. Would you get a lot of FA? No one could tell you.

What is your EFC?

Mine was around $4,300 and I got almost 30K in scholarships with a 3.67/4.3W GPA, 2150 SAT and 31 ACT (composite).

And, like everyone else said, it really depends on how much they want you.

I’m going to be in LSP by the way…

I got $46050 in scholarships and grants, and I’m from a low income family (our EFC is 0). My stats weren’t spectacular; 31 ACT And 3.8 gpa. Don’t know how I got that lucky but just saying it’s possible!

I would say about 30K, if you have good stats. I had a 27 ACT, 28 super-scored.
