How generous is wesleyan when it comes to financial aid ?Do they give out mostly loans or grants or how does it work?

it’s mostly grants (by a wide margin in most cases) and the only way to compare two different “need-blind” financial aid packages is to wait until you’ve actually got one or more of them in hand. There are only a dozen or so colleges and universities that promise to meet full need while remaining need-blind and the chances that you will be accepted at more than one are slim at best and even then, a lot depends on how each school crunches the numbers. The old adage that “no one’s case is average” is especially true of financial aid.

totally varies by your situation. the amount of loans they give (in proportion to grants) is limited, though some people will have to take out outside loans to make up their contribution. in the grand scheme of things, they are very generous and on par with most of the peer schools. that said, we are definitely behind richer schools like the Ivies and the very top LACs, particularly for middle class families, in terms of how they calculate need.

Wesleyan gave me the best all-around need-based financial aid package of the schools I got into.
