Boy, you are asking a bunch of strangers on the internet to spend a whole lot of time here, aren’t you? I’ve read your post three times and still don’t know what you’re asking for.
If your question is “my GPA is trending downward from first year of HS to second year of HS, is that a good thing?” the answer is no- in general, trending upwards is better than trending down. But it’s hard to help you beyond that. If your worst grades are in home economics that’s one thing. If they’re in math or chem, that’s something else.
What exactly is your question and please don’t ask a bunch of strangers to engage in some complex arithmetical analysis.
Ohh… I am sorry I too realized the one I posted was too long… Okay my question is I have a overall GPA of A and grade point of 3.3 andi have a SAT score of 1490 and SAT subjects of 2400 (physics ,chemistry and maths 2).What are some reachable good universities with these scores?I have some good achievements in Sports especially track and field and some achievements in Maths competition?
There are a bunch of questions that you will need to answer before anyone can give you sensible suggestions.
How do your grades compare with other students from your country? Admissions at universities in North America know a surprisingly large amount about grades scales in other countries. As such they will be comparing you with other students who are being graded the same way.
Why did you have such a significant downtrend between your first and second year of high school? Is this downtrend likely to continue into your third year?
What can you afford? There are a lot (thousands) of universities in the US. Most of them are expensive. If you can afford to pay $300,000 for four years, then there will be lots of universities that you can attend in the US. If you can afford to pay $30,000 total over four years, then the choices will be much more limited, and very likely none.
Do you have a preference in terms of the size of university or the location or anything else? Do you have a sense regarding what you would prefer in terms of location?
What country are you from? What are your options for universities in your home country?
If you had a 3.31 GPA from a high school in the US, then there are a large number of universities in the US that you could afford. However, they wouldn’t be the famous ones that are stronger than the best universities in most countries around the world. They would be average schools that are comparable to schools that you could attend in your own country, but coming to the US for education would be MUCH more expensive.
My suggestion is that you figure out what your budget is, and try to get stronger grades for your current year of high school. If you still want to consider schools in the US, then you should take the SAT or ACT and also take the TOEFL. When you have your third year grades plus test scores plus budget, post another thread on CC and ask for suggestions.

i will be studying Physics In USA. i have A plus and and overall A in physics in first and second year.Beside physics i am pretty good in Maths too… I have A in Maths in first year and B+in second year.
well 300,000 students appeared the examination nearly 1200 students obtained A + (GPA between 3.6 to 4) and 10000 students obtained A (GPA between 3.2 to 3.6).Well my grades went down during the second year because i was giving a lot of my times in social activities . i was a kind of nerd and an introvert .So i decided to engage in some activities.And while involving into these activities i got off the track and could not secure good grades.I could have done far more better than that… And my grades significantly dropped down due to a very poor grade in a subject.Though this were biology and languages subjects which i will not be studying.
My letter of recommendation would great.(one from physics teacher and one from English ).
we consider grade 11 and 12 to be high school… I wont have third and forth year high school grades… I got 86 percent in grade 9 ,3.65 in grade 10 .The grading system started for the first time in our country from grade 10.

I know some people from our country getting into MIT,HARVARD and top colleges with 80 percentage and here we call it 3.6 GPA and A grade.
This grading system had confused us as the system was recently introduced two years back.if we consider unweighted GPA how are they given in USA?

A couple of comments. One, this may simply be an “urban myth.” Two, assuming that there might be a glimmer of reality in it, I suspect that such admits would be development prospects – i.e., they have family members who have lots of money, and would be likely to send some of it to the university. Three, also assuming that there might be a glimmer of reality in it, such admits likely would have some really amazing “hooks” that induced the “top colleges” to admit them.
At this point, I think that you should identify what colleges/universities have good programs in physics; then look at the Common Data Sets, Part C, for those schools, and compare your statistics to those of recently enrolled students.
Also, follow the above advice of @DadTwoGirls.
If you are in India, your grading scale is very different from that in the US and I think your grades would be strong. You don’t need to worry about converting because colleges will do that themselves.
But, US college admission is more than just grades and test scores. They want to see ECs, awards, volunteer hours, etc… It truly is a holistic process.
As mentioned in a previous response, usually the most limiting factor is budget. US schools are expensive and international aid is very limited. Figure out what you can afford and build your list of schools around that.
i am actually from Nepal…And i am confused about the grading here in nepal and that of USA …well the people who got into MIT and Harvard they got full ride as far as i know…Should I give a try to some of these top universities along with few safe colleges?
