How good/bad is my SAT score

I am an international student, and I took the January test. With some stupid mistakes in math and luck in Writing, i got my rather-satisfactory score. But I don’t know whether the score is “good enough” for me to apply for some “top 50 Uni” in US:
I really appreciate your constructive comments:

01/2010 SAT Reasoning Test
Critical Reading 640 88%
Math 740 97%
Writing 680 94%
Multiple Choice 75 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 6 (score range: 2-12)

Thank you very much.

It’s a rather good score, but do try and improve in Critical Reading and Writing, especially Critical Reading.

Your Writing multiple choice is looking good. Try working on the essay and you’ll see great improvements in your writing score.

Your Math looks fine. You missed 2 questions, and since you said they were stupid mistakes, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Work on your Critical Reading. While that’s a decent score, you can improve with more practice and more reading. I’d practice those passage-based questions very hard. The vocabulary is not as important as the passages. If you start doing very well on the passages, you can start studying SAT Vocabulary.

I agree on this advice, unless of course you are only having trouble with the vocabulary.

Thank you,
Actually i got 19/19 for sentence completion… But got 7 wrong and 4 omitted for passage-reading… I don’t know how to improve my speed as well as my accuracy…

For Writing, I did MC section in the Jan test better than in practice test (i think i was lucky)! But about essay, i had spent time reading and doing researches (sparknotes, wiki for e.g) on prominent examples, all’s what i got was just 6…

Any more advice to improve my CR and WR plz…
Thank you…

how can you improve your reading and verbal skills if you did not born in the state?
