How good is a 2060 SAT? Can I get into a decent school?

I scored 720 in Reading(6 MC Wrong), 620 in Math (my weakest by far. apparently I skipped 2 and got 10 wrong), and 720 in Writing ( Only 2 MC Wrong, 8/12 Essay)

Should I retake to bring my math up? Does this score set me apart from most people with around a 3.3ish B+ UW GPA?
I took 2 honors each year in fresh/soph year. This year I’m taking all honors and AP but one, and next year I’m in 2 AP and all honors.

Define “decent”.
To answer your question, YES in my opinion but what are your target schools.

Currently I’m looking at schools like BC, Emerson, Providence College, maybe NYU, possibly Amherst

A 2060 will be competitive for any in-state public school that you apply to.

Depends what schools you are considering and also what kind of school you come from. If you go to a very competitive school with lots of Honors or IB and AP classes then you need to prove that you tackled the most rigorous classes and did well in them. That is shown through your grades and your AP scores. An admissions counselor told us that no one ever gets into a great school based on their great SATs. Great scores and okay GPA make raise a red flag. Bottom line – yes, try taking them again this time concentrating on the Math. Make sure you’re taking Calculus in senior year if you haven’t already.

I’ll be in Calculus AP and English AP, plus my school offers lots of “early enrollment” classes through the local college which I’ll be taking, all honors level

Calc AB or BC? Anyway, be proud of your scores, and try to get the Math up a bit more. Anything over a 700 deserves applause!

I appreciate the responses. My school offers only Calculus AB.

Leyland,
Actually High GPA and low SAT raises red flags. Grade inflation at high schools.

Low GPA and High SAT raises red flags, too. Laziness.

It is a good score

Jechse: you are a very good student, and you will do well in your college placement. Don’t worry and don’t let the process drive you or deflat your motivation. Just about any college would benefit from having you in their school. We are just debating the timeworn issues of admissions, and so I would point out that there is a reason that the SATs are being radically revamped for 2016. As the head of the college board said, “Critics have long pointed out — and Mr. Coleman admits — that high school grades are a better predictor of college success than standardized test scores. More colleges have in recent years become “test optional,” allowing students to forgo the exams and submit their grades, transcripts and perhaps a graded paper.
For many students, Mr. Coleman said, the tests are mysterious and “filled with unproductive anxiety.” And, he acknowledged, they inspire little respect from classroom teachers: only 20 percent, he said, see the college-admission tests as a fair measure of the work their students have done.”

Leyland,
Perhaps you didn’t read his post. His SAT score is NOT the issue.
Get off your soapbox.
And statistics show that rigor, gpa, and SAT combine is the best predictor of college success. He has met that criteria already.

Really? Then how come the title of this thread is “How Good is a 2060 SAT”? Take it easy, Parent. This isn’t about you.

You didn’t read the post.
His post was about whether a relatively high SAT will offset a low gpa.
And 2060 is pretty damn good. The threshold for college success per CB using only SAT is 1550. Actually, CB says that would be predict at least a B Frosh year in college.

@Leyland you don’t get it do you? Everything is about him and he has all the answers. If you don’t believe me just check his other posts.

Wow, you aren’t kidding!
