I am a co-captain/president of my high schools engineering team.

We are currently nationally recognized by the following things:

2nd in the nation in the National Engineering Design Challenge twice, in 2007 and 2006
Received a $6000 grant from MIT’s Inventeams program, 2007
Champion of MCC high school engineering competition, 2005

In being captain of the team and playing active roles in the teams success, I was curious as to how this helped in the admission process.

I know that national awards/ recognition are important for HYPSM, but I do not have national awards beyond AIME and National AP scholar after junior. I DO, however, lead my nationally recognized high school engineering team.

Is the national recognition of my team of which I lead enough to be a strong pull to HYPSM?

Another question is, how does being on the team as a regular member help? Does it at all?
