This is one of my OWN personal pet peeves of myself!!!

You know how every store now has their own version of reuseable bags??? You know, buy one for $1.99 use it forever? First of all, do you use them???

I can NEVER remember to bring them with me into the store! Drives me crazy! I keep them in the trunk, so it’s not like I leave them at home. Are you using them?

Another question. Do you only use a bag for the store it’s intended for? For instance, if you have Krogers Grocery Store, do you only take a Kroger’s Reusable bag there? Or do you take in your Walmart bag too?

Ridiculous I know. But I’m starting to get annoyed everytime I get those flimsy plastic bag thingys but I can’t remember to bring in my own!!!

One solution of course is to get “generic” bags. One of my favorites is a big, deep bag I got at Ikea. Wish I would have bought more. Will next time, but the Ikea is over an hour away…

Random thoughts I know, but this is one of those things I swore I would get better at - and I’m not!!!

You can use your own bags at any store you want. I like Chicobags, which I buy through Reusable Bags, as they can fit in my glove compartment or purse and even have a carabiner to attach to your purse or backpack.

I am getting better at remembering to use them. I keep them on the passenger seat of my car. After I bring them in the house to unload, I hang them on the doorknob out to the garage so I remember to bring them back out to the car. I have 4 of them; one is from a local grocery store and I do use it at Target or other grocery stores. One is a canvas bag from my son’s freshman college orientation. So I love that it reminds me of him every time I use it!!

I go through stretches when I forget, but I generally use the reusable bags. I’ve been leaving them on the front seat of the car so I can’t miss them. I don’t match the store to the bag – I just use what I have, wherever I’m shopping. Although I try to avoid the paper/plastic grocery bags, I take as many produce bags as possible (even for bananas)…because I have a dog.

I will be absolutely out of my mind if Nanny Bloomberg outlaws plastic shopping bags. I use them constantly, over and over, for various things. Also, public health officials here have been reminding him that regular, paper grocery bags are linked to the spread of cockroaches and increases in asthma rates.

Usually we remember. We keep them in the car, on the floor in the passenger area. The biggest issue is when returning bottles. We grab the large trash bag full of redeemables and forget to grab the bags.

If we’re lucky, we remember before we actually go into the store from the bottle return area.

I use mine all the time. I had to get in the habit of leaving them on the backseat of my SUV otherwise I would not see them in the back of my car.

I have ones from the grocery store, Trader Joe’s, Target and even a couple my D got from Forever 21 that were free. I don’t worry about which ones I use in which store, just whatever is in my car!

Both girls have the Chico bags they carry in their purses and use when they shop at the mall.

I use them most of the time. I put them back in the trunk as soon as I empty them. Mine are from Trader Joe’s. I use them at the other markets. At Trader Joe’s they have a big sign out front that reminds you to bring your bags in from the car. I have the red plastic one’s. I love them. Hold more and are sturdy.

I take my WalMart plastic bags to Aldi. And recycle all my plastic bags at WalMart.
If I forget my bags, I just dump my cartload of stuff from Aldi in the trunk=bagless shopping.

I’ll admit, it does take a while to get into the habit of remembering your bags. I now keep them behind the passenger seat. I think they are great. You can sling it over your shoulder, they hold more, and with the flat bottom, they are less likely to tip in the car. Stop and Shop will give you a .05 credit for every bag you bring in the store whether they fill it or not.

I forget mine frequently, but am trying to get better at it. I had no problem when I lived in Germany and it was the norm to bring your bags. I pay no attention to which grocery store name is on the bag - I have lots of different ones. I also try to recycle those plastic bags since despite my best efforts the pile of them at home seems to grow. I also like them better since they don’t tip, you can fit more in them and they are sturdier.

I do the same thing as Consolation does - plastic is great for cat litterbox cleaning.

“A bag in your hand is worth two in your car” (sign @ PCC).

I mostly shop at Costco and keep the Costco bags in the trunk of my car. I unload the items from my cart into the bags. For TJ’s, I have a couple of smaller bags, but they say “PCC” on them, and cashiers at TJ’s do not seem to care that the bags are from another store.

I use my reusable bags for my groceries (I really don’t shop much at other stores). To remember them, I keep them in my car and also write “bags” at the top of my shopping list. I know, that’s pretty bad…no wonder my kids think I’m really getting old!

I wish we shopped at a store with regular plastic bags. We need them for the cat litter. Unfortunately, we shop at Costco. My wife uses the costco bag. I usually don’t bother and use a box and just load the items in the car and then empty out the car with the costco bag or a box from the prior week.

I figured lots of people keep them in the passenger seat of the car - but I still have kids in the front AND in the back! So hence, the bags are in the trunk. I have started putting them in the top of the trunk - where I just have to open the hatch, not the whole trunk to get them.
