How 'green' is Pitt

Last week I attended the accepted students day at Pitt and I loved it. The only issue I had (it’s not a huge deal) is that I noticed in Market Central only plastic cutlery and disposable plates were available. Is that normal or was it like that to accommodate all of the extra people who would be eating there?

also how fast do the towers fill up? I would love to send in my deposit now, but my parents want me to visit an accepted students day at another school in late March. If I wait that long will I still be able to live in Tower A or B?

From what I can remember, we had regular plates and silverware the last time we ate at Market Central. Also noticed that they did away with the trays.

Don’t know how they assign housing but son chose to live in SPACE so he got his first choice (Towers B). Just be sure not to miss the deadline for the housing guarantee :)

Actually just wrote a story about Pitt’s green initiatives for a journalism class at Pitt, so I feel like I’m a bit of an expert on the subject!

They did away with the trays at Market Central last year. Very occasionally they use disposable utensils and plates, although Market now composts about 70%+ of all waste. They produce a couple hundred pounds of fertilizer from it all.
