How hard are courses at PSU?

My D will be starting as a freshman at UP and wants to major in communications disorders. How hard are the required university classes and…if you know about communications disorders program that would be great.

Name some classes and I can try to give you details on them. For almost any BIOL/BMB/PHYS/CHEM courses I can give you a fairly educated opinion on the difficulty. Random courses, maybe maybe not. CSD-specific courses, unfortunately I have no experience with them.

One way to get a feel for the perceived difficulty of courses would be

1) find who teaches a course of interest at [Schedule of Courses - Main Course Search](http://soc.our.psu.edu/)

2) look the professor up on [Rate My Professors - Find and rate your professor, campus and more - RateMyProfessors.com](http://www.ratemyprofessors.com)

3) find comments for that professor relevant to the course of interest, read them

This is non-scientific of course, but I’ve gotten a lot of useful advice on courses in this manner.

They have an excellent department and although the curriculum is rigorous…they have professors who are leaders in the field, so you will be well prepared to get into a good graduate program . A graduate degree is required for certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

From what I understand, courses in communications disorders arent hard at all.

I would disagree that the courses aren’t hard…I think they are fairly challenging. In most programs you have several pre-requisite courses which deal with anatomy and physiology as well as behavioral psychology and neurology.
