<p>I am aiming for berkeley EECS. I have a 4.18 gpa and 3.9 uw. 1890 SAT( most likeley wont cut it)</p>

<p>It depends on your strengths and weaknesses. The science section on the ACT, in my opinion, is the hardest. If you do very poorly on the science, then it will drag your score down. Study and be ready for that section, and you should brush up on your skills in the other 3 sections as well if you’re looking to improve your score from what you had on the SAT. Your score translates to around a 28 or a 29 on the ACT. What is your target score?</p>
<p>My target score is a 33. I know i am aiming high, but i feel i have 3 chances to do it. But if i get a 30, that is average at berkeley and above at ucla. I am very math and science oriented so i think those will be my easiest.</p>

<p>My ACT was in the top 1% while my SAT was in the top 10%</p>
<p>I’m biased, but it was my experience that the ACT evaluated what you knew, while the SAT evaluated how well you took a test. If you thought the SAT was very arbitrary and full of words no one ever uses, you’ll probably do very well on the ACT.</p>
<p>Yea, i thought the SAT was trying to trick you and the ACT actually tests what you know better. I found myself overthinking a lot of questions and then looking at the answers and realizing they arent trying to fool you.</p>
<p>First of all, it’s “do well on the ACT.” Science to me was very easy. I got a 33 on science without prep. My comp. score was 30 without prep. I’m going to take it for the second time in September. To me, ACT was easier than SAT. As for english, you should be alright as long as you review grammar. I don’t remember too much vocab when i took it, so you shouldn’t worry about that. GL and i’ll let you know my score if you decide to take it after Sep.</p>

<p>for some the ACT is pretty darn easy and for others it’s exceedingly difficult. </p>
<p>Take a few practice tests under timed conditions and see where you fall. Based on my friends’ experiences, studying didn’t help that much. Like one friend studied a few hours everyday all summer for the ACT and his score went up two points. Granted those two points really did make the difference in his acceptance to his dream school, so for him it was probably worth it. Another friend saw a one point increase the second time taking it, after he had studied a bit.</p>
