how hard is it to get accepted if your major is undelcared

I applied for the University of Pittsburgh this past weekend and picked undeclared as my major. my GPA is a 3.25 and my ACT is a 27. I have done 6 APs throughout high school and have always made grades ranging from an 85 - 95. what are my chances of being accepted?

I would say your chances are slim because of your GPA being so far below their average of 3.9. Pitt only reviews the English, Math, and Writing sections of the ACT, so what are your scores in these specific sections?

27 for every section

but surely they would not hold someone who is applying as undeclared to the same standards as someone who would be applying as an engineering major or another competitive major, right?

^ That is true. I have a 27 ACT and I got accepted, my GPA was a little higher than yours (3.7) I applied undeclared also. You never know…

Assuming you are undeclared in A&S then yes you would have less stringent requirements for admission than SSOE or nursing, for instance. That doesn’t mean that a 27ACT and a 3.25 GPA aren’t still quite low. (For comparison, only 5% of admitted applicants had below a 3.25 GPA last year)
