I got accepted into UCSD, and I’m interested and curious about the EAP’s.

I really want to study economics at HKU, and I’m wondering how hard it is to get accepted. Is it fairly easy?

Most students who do EAP manage to graduate on time right?

Thanks :)

I am aware that only juniors/senior/grads can go

It’s easy to get accepted in EAP, as long as you meet the 3.0 requirement. Usually, the study abroad counselor will give you a response within 1-2 days(he/she makes the decision). I got mines in 10 minutes.

The most difficult requirement is applying early. HKU is very popular in the UCs, and it’s one of the programs which actually get full. At my school, the waiting list can go from 5-10 students.

Most students who do EAP will think about when they are graduating before they are doing it. You’ll be gone for a semester or a year; some people take the 5th year or try to finish their work early so they use the extra semester to go abroad.

If there’s anything else you want to know, you can PM me.

Hi, do you also happen to know what other study abroad locations from EAP are highly demanded? I am interested in studying in the UK, or an asian country.

Typically for EAP, Italy (Siena), France (Bordeaux), Spain (Granada, Madrid, Barcelona) and possibly Germany are highly popular locations to study abroad in Europe. Many students like to study in Europe.

Outside of Europe, Brazil is pretty popular as well. In Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, and Korea are popular in that order (at my school). Usually, these countries take the full capacity of students that it can accomodate (meaning waiting list possibly 5-10 deep).

For those on the waiting list, the counselors usually recommend a switch in programs. For example, for those who were seeking to travel, he recommended Singapore, a program that is not as popular as the aforementioned, but still has many students participating in who travel a lot.

So in all, I think the countries I mentioned are quite popular and you should apply early to avoid ending up on the wait-list.
