Please tell me how competive those schools are, tell me the Average GPA/ACT to get accepted also.

Thanks!

For the UCs, here are the 2008 UC Freshman profiles: [University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/selecting/camp_profiles.html) You can look up the campuses you are interested in. The UC system has very specific requirements, and students who have not met those requirements (All A-G courses, SAT or ACT plus two SAT Subject tests, GPA), are surprised to find they are not accepted even with other fine accomplishments. The two you mention, UCSB and UCI, tend to be in the “middle group” of UCs in terms of competetiveness and are not as competetive as UCSD.

USC has different standards and requirements, but would be more competetive than UCSB or UCI. USC has not yet published the 2008 Freshman Profile, but they accepted about 21-22% of applicants, the unweighted GPA was 3.8, and the average ACT was about 31. Here is the 2007 profile, but things have become a bit more competetive since then: http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0809/freshman_profile_2007v2.pdf

As far as “hard” or “easy” to be accepted… it takes the same amount of effort to apply and gather all of your materials whether you are accepted or not.

Pay attention to the UCSD point system below, it gives a lot of points to non-academic stuff. It may not be as hard as you think.

USC’s 2008 average SAT for admit is 2108, if your scores beat that you have a higher chance of being admitted. I think the average GPA is about 3.8.
