How hard is it to party as a freshman?

Is it hard to get into dance clubs in NYC if you are only 18 and are there a lot/any 18+ clubs or 18 to get in 21 to drink places? Is it also that you have to meet the right people at welcome week or is it easy/hard for anyone?

Don’t worry, you’ll find/hear about stuff. Despite the misconception, a lot of people at NYU (including myself) do not have fake IDs and still are able to do lots of things. It may sound kind of lame, but join a “college parties in NYC” group on Facebook or something and you’ll receive info about happenings during the weekend.

Those facebook groups actually do help. It’s usually some guy who works for a promotional agency who wants to get the word out on his parties.

Yeah, there’s a bunch of “18 to party, 21 to drink!” clubs, although I never went to any. I still don’t go now, and I’m 21, hahaha.

I never bought a fake ID either, mainly because I didn’t feel like shelling out for one when I could drink in a friend’s apartment and not need one.

Trust me… you and your friends will work it out. Me and my friends never had any problems getting in clubs and bars. Feel around and see what everyone else is doing. You’ll meet people at welcome week. Check facebook. NYU social life is weird since there are so many places to go. A lot of the big parties are at bars and clubs and will be on facebook. You could go to the same place when there is no NYU facebook party and it be completely empty or full of 50 year olds!

Born and raised in NYC, and there is no other city like it anywhere! Have taken a break from studies and I’m kickin’ it in Beverly Hills for a bit. It’s movie town, and I was lucky enough to catch a film, the Hollywood Premiere, which is all about partying like a freshman: THE POOL BOYS. From the makers of AMERICAN PIE, this film blows that franchise away. Easily the funniest and hottest comedy of 2011. You can catch it on Movies On Demand! A primer on how to have fun in life. Check out THE POOL BOYS red band trailer on YouTube and their Facebook page.
