How Hard is it to Schedule a Friday off?

That’s basically it, I don’t want to have class on fridays, is it possible to schedule it that way? I know it is for classes at my current college the University of Cincinnati and at Pepperdine where a close friend of mine goes, but how easy/hard is it to get Fridays off for a semester or so?

Or on second thought, if that seems impossibly unreasonable to Rice students as far as scheduling, what about only having early classes on friday morning?

I doubt it - Rice lecture classes are either MWF for 50 minutes or TR for 75-90 minutes. Labs are one day of the week, but usually afternoons or evenings, not really mornings. So I doubt you can get Fridays off, unless you just choose not to go to class. Usually if someone has an off-day, it’s Tuesday or Thursday.

I have fridays off!!!

This is fairly hard to schedule, and gets harder as you try to take more classes. But, you could do something like 4 Tuesday/Thursday classes and a monday lab or seminar.

I have, for example - 4 Tuesday/Thursday classes, a monday seminar, monday night lab, and wednesday afternoon lab.

Possible, but tricky. This is something that is easier at other schools.

It’s definitely not very hard to avoid friday afternoons though.

I think it’s a lot more relaxing to get a Tues. or Thurs. off. It means more when everyone around you still has to work
It also gives you time to catch up if you need to.

You don’t really need a 3 day weekend every weekend. Besides, what happens when Rice has a 3 day weekend. You miss out because you don’t have class anyway.

i dont have classes on tues or thursday, but 5 on MWF. Im loving it so far.

At Rice I would never try to schedule Fridays off. It would be way to stressfull the rest of the time. Don’t worry, it is only as stressful as you make it.
