How hard is it to transfer?

Hi everyone from umich board. I was just wondering how hard it would be to transfer to umich from nyu after freshmen year? Is it like impossible hard or if you maintain a certain grade like 3.5, then you’ll get a better chance of transfering? thx for the reply

State schools are generally easier to transfer into, assuming you are in a respectable, in-state CC. That clearly does not apply to you. However, Michigan is so large that transfering into it is still relatively easy, even if you aren’t attending a Michigan CC. I’d say a 3.5 GPA from NYU along with a legitimate reason for wanting to transfer could do the trick…but there are no guarantees.

What if my reason is that I don’t really like NYU. Its loud, the people are rude, its faster, expensive, and there is no campus. Plus if I’m in cas, I want to go to ross to study business. Is that a good reason?

Well, those are good reasons…but didn’t you know that about NYU before going there? In other words, if you were deciding between colleges and picked Michigan over NYU for the reasons you listed above, it would have made perfect sense. But I wouldn’t wory too much about it. Michigan will accept a transfer applicant so long as the applicant is strong academically and a 3.5+ NYU student is certainly strong.

My sister went to NYU and I visited a couple of times. I’m worried that I might not like NYU once I get there. Thx for the reply

Ross is significantly harder to transfer into than the rest of U-M.
