I want to apply to McDonough School of Business and continue my own business in college. Please let me know how much workload the undergraduate students have.
Thank you!
This will vary depending on which courses you take and in what order, how rigorous your HS prep has been, and how strong your study skills are.
Courses like Micro, Macro economics; operations research; statistics with programming-- these are going to be time consuming anywhere if math hasn’t been a particular strength of yours. Courses like “Buyer Behavior” (the “easy” version of market research for students who are avoiding the harder version with regressions and hard core statistics) will be much less time consuming.
We don’t know your level of prep. If you are a good time manager, have had a rigorous HS curriculum, etc. you should be able to manage demanding EC’s (like your own business, or other interests). If you’ve struggled to keep things from falling apart in HS, maybe not. But in general, most undergrad business programs are somewhere in the middle of workload- not as demanding as mechanical engineering (for example) but more demanding than early childhood education.
Agree that the answer will vary from individual to individual. Some factors include: aptitude for the different courses, HS background, organizational skills, work ethic, etc.
In general, if you have the qualifications to get accepted into the program and work with diligence in college you should be just fine.
How time consuming is this business.
