How hard is to transfer to a good school?

<p>Basically I am going to be a junior in high school this August, I currently have a 3.0 gpa, and will work hard on my gpa next year and also my ACT and SAT results.</p>

<p>I probably am not getting into a school of my choice right out of high school, so I would have to go to a university that accepts me first.</p>

<p>Say I go to a university that’s mediocre like University of Colorado Boulder fresh out of high school and stay a year, have a really good gpa, would it be hard to transfer into a school like NYU or UPenn? </p>

<p>I guess my original question is, how good of a university do you need to start at to transfer to a very selective university? </p>

<p>Also, I am planning to study something that involves business (not exactly sure what) </p>

<p>Many selective universities accept a substantial percentage of their transfer students from community colleges. Examples include all of the California public universities (including Berkeley and UCLA), USC, and Stanford.</p>

<p>UC Boulder is considered a good U. USC and other Us are pretty good at accepting transfers with great CC or college records. For specific Us that you are interested in attending, it’s best to check each U specifically. Many ivies do NOT accept many transfers at all, no matter how exemplary the student record post HS.</p>
