I have a high GPA I believe (ive only gotten a few non A’s in English because I suck at it honestly). So im guessing its around 3.50 or better (im a freshman in homeschool fyi) im also homeschooled. I am planning to study EXTREMELY hard for the SAT exams so im hoping to get at least an 1800. So realisticly what are my chances if I have a 3.70 and 1600-1900 SAT score?

Search engines such as on collegeboard that show the selectivity and admission statistics are helpful. At this time, both are considered very selective. UNC admits 28% of applicants, and average SAT of admitted candidates is higher than NCSU which has an admission rate of 50%.
I am assuming you are in state, as out of state is harder.
Do your best, apply to both, see what happens.
Also consider other desirable options to apply to that are less selective, as one can’t assume admission is a guarantee, anywhere, especially at selective colleges.

Thanks pennylane. I couldn’t remember the search engines name lol.

It’s the same site you will register for the SAT on. It has a college search area too. Nice resource. Good luck to you.

Some folks on internet message boards–including me, sometimes–will give a person a hard time for asking a question with an answer that could have been Googled easily. I mean to say this nicely and not harshly, so please try to read it with the correct “tone of voice,” but this was probably one of those times.

Here are links to UNC and NC State in particular. To see data on the high-school grades, standardized test scores, etc., of current freshmen, click on the “applying” link for each university.

While these types of questions may not be well received sometimes, consider that the OP is 14 and is starting to consider colleges. I don’t know what resources are available to him (or her). It’s good that he is asking the questions that lead to college. Now he has a resource.
IMHO, better to ask than not at all, and so, I don’t want to discourage him.

I totally did consider Ultimablade’s age, Pennylane, and that’s why I wasn’t snarky with him or her. I don’t want this poster to feel discouraged, either–not in this thread, but also not by getting smacked down at some future date for asking a question that he or she could easily have found the answer for with a little bit of Googling.
