How Hard would it be to transfer in?

Hello!!

I am currently a High School Senior who realized a little too late that Michigan would be a good fit for me…I am now considering transferring into Michigan for Mechanical Engineering. Next year I will start at Texas A&M University or the University of Texas. Here are some of my stats:

GPA: 5.01/6.0 (W), 3.89 (UW)
SAT:2020
SAT II: 710 Physics, 680 Math 1
ACT: 28 (won’t send)

AP’s
AP World History
APush
AP English Lang
AP English Lit
AP Chemistry
AP Physics 2
AP Micro Econ
AP Govt
AP Calculus AB

Subjective:
Local Mathematics Tutor, NHS, Rho Kappa, NEHS, Mu Alpha Theta
Partnership with NASA under the Hunch Program
Eagle Scout
White/Hispanic Male

If anyone could respond and give me an idea of how good my chances are and how hard it would be to transfer in that would be greatly appreciated…Thanks!

If you enter as a sophomore, then your HS stats would still be important. However, if you enter as a junior, then it almost completely depends on your college stats.

So is transferring in generally easier than applying as a freshman or not? If I were able to get a 3.7+ after a year and apply as a sophomore would it be something doable or not?

I would say easier, because transfer applicants seem to be evaluated mostly by academic standing, seemingly the freshman application reviewing process looks more than this (academic and ecs). And to focus on one point would be easier…

Transfer admission rate is slightly higher than freshmen admission rate from the data.
