How helpful is Georgetown Tuition Exchange for scholarships?

My list is:
UMich OOS
Penn State OOS
NYU
BC (Catholic)
USCalifornia
USCarolina OOS

How much help do I get from my dad’s GTown TE with these schools and the schools similar to that?

Also, what schools get really good Finaid from GTown TE?

I’m assuming you’ve already looked at all of the information on the Georgetown Benefits department website?https://benefits.georgetown.edu/tap/tapchildren

You should contact a Georgetown Benefits administrator directly, but it looks as if there are no restrictions on which other institutions are eligible and the amount of the tuition benefit is tied to the parent’s years of employment at Georgetown.

I don’t understand your last question as it would seem the tuition benefit from Georgetown is the same wherever you attend. How much the university you apply to offers in financial aid from their end seems to be a separate calculation, not tied to the TAP benefit, but you should check that out with the Benefits office.

Georgetown does not appear to be part of the Tuition Exchange program (tuitionexchange.org), which many other colleges use and you’ll see referenced on College Confidential occasionally. I think the link profparent posted pretty thoroughly covers what’s available to you.

Your father can ask at Gtown. They should have all the information available for employees.

The information on the website seems to indicate, as others have said, that they do not participate in the tuition exchange program, but do have a tuition benefit for employees that will help defray college costs.

If you live in Washington DC, you could also apply for the DC Tuition Assistance Grant http://osse.dc.gov/service/dc-tuition-assistance-grant-dc-tag

If you live in VA or MD and your dad has 5 years or more of service the eligibility would cover in-state tuition, and a good portion of OOS tuition at certain schools.

Hi, I just asked my dad and he said that I get 15k for any university

OK…so now you need to find out the policies at the schools to which you apply.

Do these schools reduce your financial need by $15,000 a year, thus reducing your need based aid?

Does this award affect their awarding of merit aid?

Can you stack this award with other scholarships, migrants and other forms of aid…and to what amount?
