How high should a transfer aim? Hypothetical..

I had a pretty spotty high school record. Mostly A’s and B’s the first two years, straight A’s junior year, and then grades all over the map senior year. I attended three different schools, senior year at a state honors dual-enrollment program.

I had good extra curriculars my first two years and then mostly volunteer work senior year.

My SAT was mostly average and very lop-sided:
CR: 730
W: 650
M: 570

I took a gap year to work and travel and sort out my brain and will be attending a small womens’ college in VA this fall. I’m really iffy on the single-sex factor but they gave me a lot of merit aid so it was hard to turn the offer down…

My question is - if I earn a high GPA, am active on campus and possibly raise my SAT, could I ever hope to be admitted to Vanderbilt? It’s my dream school and I’m just wondering if college work truly makes up for poor high school performance? PLEASE don’t lecture me about grade trends, I am highly aware that mine is the opposite of what ad coms want to see. I just wasn’t thinking about my future in high school. Now I am.

Advice would be appreciated, but please be kind.

The biggest factor is going to be your GPA and recommendations from college professors. It could certainly happen. Work your butt off.

34% transfer acceptance rate this year, so it’s not impossible.
