how I went from 201 PSAT to 2310 SAT since october

All of my life I’ve scored in the ninety-ninth percentile on Iowa Tests. I’ve never scored lower. So careless me thought he could get a NMSF no problem. Unfortunately, I only scored 201, which is nowhere near the NMSF cutoff in my state. This was shocking. I then realized (I hadn’t known this before because everyone always glorified my ninety-ninth percentile consecutivity) that I wasn’t the best test-taker in the world. So I set out to improve my reading and writing scores (those were the areas in which the majority of my missed questions were missed.)
I scoured the internet for the one hundred best novels ever written, and began to read them—my logic as follows: even if they aren’t actually the best novels ever written, if they are on that list they must be worthwhile.
So since January 1st, when I actually began dedicating an hour each day towards toppling this tower, I’ve read about five novels (I’m about halfway through two more.) I’ve also grown more fastidious in not only the semantics of language, but also the nooks and crannies of mathematics, ensuring that I’m absolutely correct in all of my answers. Last Sunday, I took the official SAT test from 2005, and received a 2310. The only questions I missed were in writing.
This confuses me. Last year I took the ACT and received a 36 on writing. On the SAT I recently took, I missed about five or six questions(!). How is this possible? It seems as though the ACT writing section begs for mere legality of grammar, while the SAT writing begs, much more subjectively, at best fit. How can I improve my writing score on the SAT? I don’t want my writing score to hold me back from a 2350+.
