How important are connections with professors when it comes to admissions for graduate school? If they are important what advice do you have about making connections?
Grad school admissions require rec letters. How do you get a rec letter? By having a relationship w/someone who knows your work.
How? Show interest. Be engaging, friendly. Stand out. How did you do it in high school?
Agree, it is a similar process to HS where you need LORs from professors.
And how to make connections really depends on your situation. My S who was a business major got one LOR from his boss at his summer internship and a second LOR from a professor he got to know well through two classes he had with him. My D who was in the sciences developed close relationships with a number of professors by getting involved in research work and that probably helped her to get strong LORs. Both kids went about things differently in part due to their majors, but both got into their top choice grad school.
