How important are grades and test scores?

On the low end my final GPA for overall middle school will be like 3.75 and i haven’t gotten my final SSAT score back yet but my previous was 90th percentile.

Do these two stats really impact my admission that much if hypothetically everything else is pretty good or perfect?

Without knowing where you are applying, the classes you have taken or anything about your ECs it is hard to say. Your grades and scores are strong.

For andover, am I average? In other words, do my scores detract or just validate that I’m academically successful but not to an extreme extent where I’m a shoe-in.

Honestly it really is about the whole package. as students with lower scores have gotten in and students with higher scores have been rejected. What I can say is your scores are common amongst many who apply to the top BS. You are not asking the right questions. What differentiates you? What are you bringing to the community? And what do you want from the varying schools based on your interests? Is Andover your only focus?

I don’t think grades or scores alone make anyone a shoo-in at a school like Andover. That extraordinary of an applicant would have to have much more. But many excellent applicants are admitted without having been “shoo-ins”.
