How important are my referees academic achievements?

Hi, i am from Peru and in my university very few professors hold a PhD degree or even an international qualification. Even the ones who do have gone to low ranked universites in the U.S
I know a lot of teachers who can give me excellent recommendation letters, however, i am afraid that because they only have a national degree, universities in UK (I’m applying there) will think they are a joke.

Do my referees academic achievements even show up in the letter of recommendation (PhD, masters, W/e). or is there any of way for the university i am applying to to know that my teachers only holds a national degree?

for example:
XXX has is a genius and the best student i have ever had in my life
(name of the professor)
(academic achievements: Undergraduate degree in Peru)

thanks

anyone have any opinions?

I’m only speculating here but I don’t think it matters. They want to know about their experience with you compared to other students and specifically why they would recommend you. The limitation would be if they haven’t had other students who have been applying to the same sort of schools you are. So they couldn’t say in the x number of students who have applied to ____ schools, this is one of the best prepared.

For LORs, profs usually will sign their name and give their degree (eg. MS, PhD), but not the university where they received it.

I think that colleges recognize that systems vary in different countries and will take that into account. Also, what is your alternative?

what do you mean by alternatives?

I mean, you need to get LORs from the school that you’re attending, and you don’t have any control over the degrees that your instructors have.
