How Important are Personal Essays?

Can they break you, especially at such a high level?
I don’t think my essays were terrible. I think they are pretty good (maybe they just get boring when you read them over and over again so many times?), but they aren’t stunning.

If they weren’t terrible then don’t worry about it. And I don’t think that a brilliant essay would considerably strengthen an otherwise weak application. I have no idea what your application is like but I highly doubt your essay alone would affect your chances.
They’re done and submitted. Don’t think about it anymore.

Cadillac, you gave it your best shot so hope for the best! While the essays are important, I honestly don’t think that we’re all supposed to be writers and poets :stuck_out_tongue: Yale surely isn’t expecting it either, right? They just want to learn about you and what makes you special. Your essay just has to be effective and honest, not some stunning gimmick, and as long as you did that you’re fine  Best of luck!
