How important are the Writing 1 and 2 grades?

Planning on UCLA…how much will a B in WR 2 (second English comp) class hurt you?

Uhm…it would have to be evaluated in light of your other grades. What is your major and average GPA?

They’re not going to rescind admission over it, if that’s what you mean…

Oh, I thought he was thinking about applying and not yet applied (that “Writing 1” and “Planning” part threw me off). Yeah, if you’ve already been accepted, a B isn’t anything to worry about.

I actually haven’t applied yet. I’m only in my 2nd semester as an econ major. I have a 4.0 gpa but it’s only for 8.5 units (only did part time last semester)

Well for Fall '09, the average GPA of admitted econ majors was 3.86 (up .04 from the year previous and .08 from 2 years prior). Judging solely based on stats, I would say that as long as your GPA is somewhere near this figure at the time you apply, you’ll be fine.

Nope, doubt it’s going to hurt you. They focus more on grades from your major prereqs, plus your GPA is looking pretty good. Got a B in WR2 too from this one professor who slashed off 10 grade points out of 100 because of having the wrong format for my bibliography in my final research paper…

ANYWAY. Hahaha. Nothing to worry about, I’d say.
