How Important Are Trends??

i have a 3.4 because of a rough first semester at a CC

1st semester

B
B
C
C

2nd Semester
A
A
A
B

Summer
C
A
A

3rd Semester

A
A
A
A

as you can see i have improved dramatically…since that first semester…what im asking is will the trend of improvement score me some points?

it scores some points yeah, how many? not sure, probably depends on the person reviewing your application :. I totally bombed my first semester, and have been getting A’s and B’s ever since. It’s definitely better than having gotten all A’s your first 2 semesters and now be getting A’s and B’s or even a C. Did you write about your trend in part 3 of your personal statement? I wrote some stuff about the circumstances of my first semester and my personal growth blah blah, to try and stress the positive trend more

Trends are pretty important. I remember when I was into the corduroy pants trend, then I got into the skater trend, then the emo trend.

I am just playing I was never emo.

But seriously I think grade trends are pretty important. But your grades are not really a trend it was more so you just had one bad semester.

Did the corduroy pants trend hit in fourth grade, as it did with my school? Which was then immediately followed by the Pipes trend?

Corduroys were the bomb.

they still are imo

trends are important, but it will depend also on for your reasons for sucking in the beginning. If you faced some hardships, overcame them and improved your grades you score more points than if you just sucked.

i never felt cool in corduroys, but some people look good in corduroy jackets and pants, so not fair aha

I think that trends are important, but it is even better if they are vindicated in the essay.

I loved chords.

I heard Cal really cares about grade trends… but not sure about other UC’s.

I’m wearing chords right now.
And I think favorable grade trends will help you out.
