I got a scholarship for about 10k, it is an American presidential scholarship from the most well know association in electronics. How important is this scholarship for the admission officers?

By the way: I am an international student and I won this scholarship in Intel fair.

I had just finished the junior year, and now I am a applying for College. My question is for admission officers how important is that scholarship in my admission process. I am not American so I can not know the worth of my prize in the admission process because I saw so many students with different scholarships. For instance scholarships gave by National Merit Corp, different banks, etc…

Colleges will be more interested in how you won the scholarship and who awarded it. In your applications you will have the opportunity to describe honors and awards.

There is a section that asks about what awards and recognition you may have gotten. You can note the award there. If ithis is truly something unusual that you feel that American admissions officers do know, have your counselor explain the award and how great you are to have won it in his/her reference. It usually comes off better when someone else makes those kinds of points. Write out what you want your counselor to include so your chances are better that s/he uses the full description. Always make it easy for your teachers and counselor to write their recs and refs for you, by giving them a sheet with it all down there. You don’t want them to have writer’s block when they are filling out your things.
