So I have only taken the first course of the year long writing sequence which is a part of the required GE here at UCSD, and I really don’t want to take it this year either, because those courses are 6 units each, and they screw up your schedule pretty bad. I am an engineering major, I would rather finish my o-chem sequence, and my real analysis sequence.

Will this hurt my chances to transfer to Cal ChemE? Or can they just let me take one of their writing courses if they accept me? There aren’t that many classes to take for ChemE transfers during the first semester at Cal anyways.

I write fairly well anyways, especially in terms of academic and journalistic writing (I write editorials for a number of paper and electronic news media), and those writing courses don’t really teach me anything new.
