I recently took the ACT, and I got a total score of 35.
Here is my score breakdown:
English: 36
Math: 35
Reading: 34
Science: 34
Writing (Essay):30
English Language Arts: 33
STEM: 35
I want to major in English, Journalism, Communications, or some other writing-related major.
Should I take the ACT again to improve my Writing score?
Don’t take it again. Your composite is a 35 (that’s what most schools use). You risk being seen as a test taking automaton. Even the 30 is excellent. You’re done with testing. Sleep in that Saturday morning.

Move to other parts of your application.
A 30 is 98 percentile for writing, which is great. You’re okay 
essay score is not important
