How important is student council and nhs?

Is it more important then sports and clubs? Im wondering because i didnt get accepted into NHS and i dont think i will win the student council election so im wondering if i dont have these on my college applications the schools will look down on me. Is this true or is having sports and clubs just as important?

also are grades and sat scores more important to these schools then extracurriculars?: ucla, uc irvine, and usc.

I think it depends what roles you have in your clubs. If your just a member then obviously obtaining some type of leadership position in your ASB ( associated student body)/ student council would be more highly valued. Same goes with Varsity sports, if your not an outstanding player or a captain but just a member of the team, then i do think some type of leadership spot would take you as a student to the next level candidate when it comes to admissions. I assume NHS is national honors society? i dont think thats too much of an impact and can be replaced with other things. the UC’s look a lot at just stats in my honest opinion unless ur a borderline student, then i guess they do their newer holistic approach. USC being a private school i believe would look more at ur entire resume than just stats.

Most high school’s NHS is completely crap. Don’t know about yours.
