I’m taking the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE) which is basically just the ACT and the ACT WorkKeys combined together, given to all high school juniors here in Illinois. I took the ACT today and it went well: I’m hoping for a superscored 33 or 34. Tomorrow, I’m going to be taking the ACT WorkKeys. My question is, is it relevant at all? Does it count for anything? From what I know, it is designed to test your readiness for employment. That’s really all I know about. The fact that I am on a college-oriented forum obviously shows that college trumps employment in my plans for my future.

That test is a joke one of the questions on it (when I took it) was literally 50 minus 17 but I do know that one of my teachers once looked up a girls scores on that test (she wouldn’t tell us why she needed to look it up) so I think our administrators use them but other than that it’s pointless don’t even think about it

I took the test today as well (I’m guessing you live in Illinois?). I realized while I was TAKING it that it was a complete joke…I finished every test with at least 10 minutes left, and that’s after checking any answers I wasn’t sure about. My teachers claim that colleges will use it in the event that your GPA and other standardized test scores don’t match up. At my school, apparently the results go on my transcript, but since I’m planning on going out of state, none of the colleges will really know what it is anyway.

From my understanding, PSAE is just an ISAT for high schoolers. So the state uses it to assess schools and determine funding. I don’t think colleges will even see the WorkKeys.

PSAE subject scores appear on your final transcript. The individual tests that make up the PSAE scores are not included on the transcript. The WorkKeys tests are components of the PSAE subject scores and are not broken out on the student’s transcript.

^^^^^^ how does that work out??? The ACT and WorkKeys are graded differently.

Anyways, I took it, and it was pretty much a joke. I pretty much finished each test in 15 minutes, then pretty much dozed off until the teacher called time.
