How important is the SAT I take on Saturday?

I never took the SAT, I take it this weekend. i have taken a lot of practice tests and I am predicting:

CR 700 (I would be surprised if it is lower)
M 600 (I would be surprised if it is much higher)
W 700+

I wish I had studied more but I just didn’t want to since it is my math that needs the most improvement, and I do not like math.

Anyway, how are these scores looking for top schools with a 3.91 GPA?
I am still unsure how much weight these scores will carry.

It really depends…where you are planning to transfer to. However, your predicted scores seem very good. They shouldn’t hurt your standing of your 3.91 GPA too much. However, just take the test this weekend and just hope that you get an easy math section. Does your major require high level math? If it doesn’t, then I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Still, do your best and good luck.

It depends on where you are coming from and where you want to go. Top schools is ambiguous; if you mean top 20 and have held a 3.91 at a competitive school for awhile, they’re not a big deal. However, since you’ve never taken the test, I assume you are at a community college or lower-tiered school that did not require scores. If you intend to make a big jump, you’ll want to aim for 1400 or above combined verbal and math to have a good shot. Unfortunately, like yourself, my strongest subject was writing. Colleges don’t weigh that score too heavily yet, from what I hear.

Thanks for the replies. I am at Arizona State (3rd tier) and my major is english literature.

I plan on applying to Chicago, Georgetown, Rice, Columbia (GS), and Brown.

I have high hopes, but i don’t want to get my expectations too high, especially since I have not studied all that much for it. I appreciate your posts so far.

Anyone have a thought with the extra info I posted?
