How important is the when and what the the teacher taught you? for recommendations

<p>Hey i’m thinking about asking my sophomore year spanish teacher, who is also the sponsor of amnesty which i am the vp of, to write me a rec. Is this a bad idea bc i dont have this teacher junior or senior year? How important is the when and what the the teacher taught you?</p>

<p>Some schools require teachers from certain years, if they do, follow their instructions. Most schools only require that it be from a teacher in a core subject. Jr year is best, but at least for soph year, they have known you longer than sr year teachers would have. What level of Spanish did you take from this teacher? My D sent a rec from a soph year teacher, but it was an AP course and she was her aide for that course sr year also. </p>

<p>IMO, you should look at your possible teachers and pick the ones that know you best and will write the best LOR for you.</p>
