HOw important is the writing score?

the topic speaks for itself…anyone here have an idea how important the sat writing score is compared two the math and verbal. For example, if u do well on math and verbal but do badly on writing, would colleges reject you based on ur poor writing mark??do they look at it like a SATII? and would taking extra SATII subjects help draw attention away from the poor writing mark??

Depends on the college. For the UCs, they consider the SAT Writing score equivalent to all of the other tests. So a SAT Math, and a SAT Writing are worth the same. The SAT II US History (if you take it) is also worth the same as a SAT Writing. What the UCs do is that they add all 5 of your test scores (best SAT I from a single sitting, and 2 best SAT II subject tests) to figure out your test score.

I know that JMU at least is pretty much ignoring it. They want to see more history with the new SAT before they give it much weight.

So I’d say that once you have your list of target schools together, call 'em up and ask them if they’re considering it or not. Most of them will actually tell you, so it doesn’t hurt to ask.
