How important is your SAT & and ACT tests to colleges?

So I’m a Freshman in high school right now and we took a practice PLAN test called the Explore test and I totally bombed the math and science section. I got a 17 on math and a 18 on science. The average for math was 18 and for science 20. I feel like such a dumbass.
I’m afraid that by the time that I get to the tests that actually count that I’m going to perform the same way!
I just don’t get it, because I do really good in these subjects in class. Like I have above 100 percent in Math AND I’m in an above level math class, and Science is particularly hard for me but I still have an A in that class…
so I was wondering, when Junior or Senior year comes around and I take the ACT and SAT if I don’t do all that great, will colleges notice that I was exceptionally good in the subjects during class? And will Ivy Leagues automatically dismiss me from admission because of a bad standardized test score?
please be honest… and I don’t mention that I’m too young to be thinking about college already please.

For top schools, you need excellent grades AND excellent test scores. However, getting a lower score than you’d like on the Explore test is not a reason to panic. You can prepare for those tests. Knowing the types of questions that are asked, whether or not to guess, what the time pressure is, and just having done practice tests and being familiar with the format, will all help your score. My kids never took the Explore, but on the ACT itself, the science section really doesn’t require knowledge of science. It’s reading and interpreting data. Usually all the science you need is contained in the question. In that respect, it’s not really like your science class. You have lots of time to prepare for the tests that will actually count.

Don’t worry. You have 2 more years to work on the tests. You have a good motivation and you start planning early. So you should do fine in a couple years. You may start learning more vocab day by day. You will learn more math in the next year or two that will be tested.

explore & plan exams are very bad predictors of actual ACT score.

I got 1 wrong on the PLAN reading part and i scored a 25. The highest score is a 32. /:

Don’t take the score’s to seriously.

Yeah. The PLAN test predicts less accurate than PSAT. Remember the prediction is based on statistics. There are many things that could happen in the 2 years between PLAN and ACT.
