HOW important is...

Foreign Language!

If you’re applying to lets say Cornell or Dartmouth, how important is THREE years of foreign language…

(it might actually be a requirement… idn)

It is a requirement.

PRETTY DARN IMPORTANT. Most schools AT THE VERY LEAST recommend that you have at least 3 years of foreign language.

yeah…it’s ivy league after all…

yeah…the ivy league is the pinnacle of post-secondary education after all…

sorry to “hijack” this thread but if you only took two years of a foreign language and CLEPd out of it, would this make up for the year you didn’t take? or even a high score on the SATII test in that language?

3 years, briguy, is 3 years. SAT II/AP scores are used to place out of college AFTER you get in

Not important at all if you are applying to engineering. Although since you mentioned Dartmouth I’m assuming you aren’t so its probably pretty important.

But yeah I got into Cornell with 2 years, and my friend got into Cornell and Brown with 2 years, but I’m going into ece, and he is going into comp sci, and both of us stopped taking foreign language so we could fit comp sci classes into our schedule.
