I know essays are needed for admissions, but I was curious what their exact purpose is. What is their weight in the grand scheme of things regarding admissions?
I think the essays are at least as important as any other part of the application (if not more). The transcripts and test scores start to look very similar for a lot of the applicants. IMO the essays are a great opportunity to tell them who you are and what you bring to the table. Be authentic and tell them your story. Embrace the essays, they are great way to differentiate yourself.
